The 33rd HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair, coordinated by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from July 19 through July 25 (Wednesday through Tuesday).

Reading the World: The Joy of Reading for Children and Youth will be echoed by the Book Fair's Children's and Young Adult Literature theme, which will highlight children's and young adult literature, explore its breadth, and encourage reading throughout the city. More than 600 lectures and cultural events have been planned as part of this.

It will operate concurrently with the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the HKTDC World of Snacks, bringing in a combined total of roughly 760 exhibitors and providing attendees with three times the fun for the price of one ticket.

"The theme this year, Children's and Young Adult Literature, selected by the Hong Kong Book Fair Cultural Events Advisory Panel, is particularly thoughtful," said Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC. Children's and young adult literature has great educational value and has a big impact on how kids think, imagine, and create their worldviews.

We want to honor and promote Hong Kong authors of children's and young adult books by utilising the topic this year. Alongside the Book Fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and HKTDC World of Snacks will be held. Together, they will host approximately 760 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, offering a wide variety of books, works of cultural art, sports, and leisure experiences, as well as delectable treats from around the world, making it a must-visit location for Hong Kong residents this summer.

Readers have long enjoyed the Art Gallery, which will host two thematic exhibitions this year at the HKCEC Hall 3 Concourse: Featured Writers of the Subject of the year and Treasures of Lingnan Culture. The nine featured writers' valuable collections and chosen works will be the main focus of the exhibition. They are the late Quenby Fung, Ho Tsz, Wei Ya, Sun Wai-ling, Leong Monk-fung, Poon Ming-chu, and Chau Mat-mat.

They will discuss their writing processes and offer their opinions on how children's literature has changed through time.

The guru of Lingnan culture is regarded as Wong Fei-hung. Books, martial arts periodicals, movie programme booklets, stage images from his films from the 1950s and 1960s, and other priceless things are included in an exhibition honouring his legacy at the Book Fair that helps viewers envisage the development of Lingnan martial arts and culture. The Art Gallery will use interactive design and exhibition to bring Lingnan traditions to life.

The World of Art & Culture zone will debut, sponsored by Create Hong Kong* (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), to further solidify Hong Kong's status as an East-meets-West hub for global cultural interaction.

The zone, which features works of literary and cultural art from 24 nations and regions, including France, Hungary, Switzerland, Spain, Korea, Brunei, and more, was carefully curated by eminent Hong Kong designers. Additionally, the zone will display the books that won the 2023 Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Award categories for Children & Youth and Art & Design. For the purpose of assisting readers in gaining a greater knowledge of many cultures, there will be seminars where participants may engage with art, culture, and creativity.

A feature of the Book Fair continues to be the Eight Seminar Series.
